Euroscript Unveils its Hungarian Script Service
Euroscript intend its Hungarian script service to be a crucial link between the Hungarian and English-speaking worlds of screenwriting.
The last few decades have witnessed the focus of filmmaking shifting from Hollywood to other territories, and Hungarian-speaking cinema has undeniably contributed to this change. Directors like Béla Tarr, György Pálfi, Szabolcs Hajdú, János Szász, Kornél Mundruczó and others have cemented Hungary’s already significant place in film history through their distinctive productions. The recent successes of films like Son of Saul, White God, Free Fall and Mirage clearly indicate that Hungarian films can find wide international popularity and distribution. And Euroscript wants to be involved in bringing more of these imaginative riches to the screen. We can help Hungarian writers, producers and directors find a wider audience both in the UK and Europe by enabling them to write their scripts in English. An English-language script can open up possibilities for further international development, and also lead to added funding opportunities. |
As the UK's first and best screenplay training and consultancy organisation, we aim to make long-term relationships with Hungarian-speaking writers, producers and directors, and give them the know-how they need to create high quality, industry-ready screenplays.
When writing in English, non-native screenwriters may find they can get some way with a script – finalising the structure, characters and story elements – but still need help with the final polish, putting the linguistic nuances in place; especially when slang, technical, highly contemporary or subcultural language is required. Since Euroscript’s tutors and editors are all working and experienced writers we can help with this, working closely with you to create a finished screenplay. Our Hungarian editor can translate scripts and give feedback in Hungarian or English, and through a variety of methods: written reports, individual meetings, emails and phone or Skype calls. We can also bring our acclaimed Script Clinics to local film festivals to give writers direct, hands-on help with their projects. Please find the Hungarian translation of this page here. |
