WFTV
Women in Film & TV (UK) is the leading membership organisation for women working in creative media in the UK and part of an international network of over 13,000 women. Members of the organisation come from a broad range of professions spanning the entire creative-media industry. WFTV hosts a variety of events throughout the year, presents a prestigious awards ceremony every December and runs a mid-career mentoring programme for women. They also host networking evenings, collaborate with industry bodies on research projects and lobby for women’s interests. |
Writers’ Guild of Great Britain (WGGB)
WGGB is a trade union representing over 2,000 writers in film, theatre, TV, radio, books, comedy, poetry, animation and videogames. Its members include emerging as well as established writers. It has been negotiating better pay and conditions for writers since 1959, and the agreements it has have in place cover key industry bodies including the BBC, ITV and Pact; National Theatre, Royal Court and Royal Shakespeare Company. It lobbies and campaigns on behalf of writers to ensure their voices are heard and their rights are protected in a rapidly changing digital landscape. It offers a range of benefits to its members, including contract vetting, support and advice, free training, a pension scheme, welfare fund, networking events, a weekly ebulletin, exclusive discounts and entry in the Find A Writer online directory. It runs three sets of annual awards, including the prestigious Writers’ Guild Awards, which have been celebrating writers and writing since they launched in 1961. |
Directors UK
Directors UK is the professional association of UK screen directors. It is a membership organisation representing the creative, economic and contractual interests of over 6,500 members - the majority of working TV and film directors in the UK. Directors UK collects and distributes royalty payments and provides a range of services to members including campaigning, commercial negotiations, legal advice, events, training and career development. Directors UK works closely with fellow organisations around the world to represent directors’ rights and concerns, promotes excellence in the craft of direction and champions change to the current landscape to create an equal opportunity industry for all. |
The Society of Authors
The SoA is a trade union for all types of writers, illustrators and literary translators, at all stages of their careers. We have been advising individuals and speaking out for the profession for more than a century. Members receive unlimited free advice on all aspects of the profession, including confidential clause-by-clause contract vetting, and a wide range of exclusive offers. We campaign and lobby on the issues that affect authors and hold a wide range of events across the UK. The SoA also administers grants and prizes to support and celebrate authors at all stages of their careers.
