THE WRITERS' ROOM EXPERIENCE

A TWO DAY WEEKEND WORKSHOP

THIS WORKSHOP HAS NOW BEEN COMPLETED BUT YOU CAN REGISTER YOUR INTEREST IN FUTURE DATES BY EMAILING ANJI LOMAN FIELD.

Ever wondered what's it like to work on a  team-written show? What really goes on behind the closed doors of a professional Writers' Room?

This (non-residential) Summer School workshop explores the process through the co-creation and planning of a brand new show.

Along the way you'll learn behind-the-scenes secrets of how TV drama series are developed, enabling you to move forward with confidence if you secure a writing gig on an existing show and equipping you with the skills to take  your own TV drama series projects forward.

You'll be joining a group of aspiring creative screenwriters in a simulated writers' room, run by experienced professional writer/show-runner Anji Loman Field at a delightful arts venue in Brighton.

Over two full, hands-on days you’ll be contributing to the creation and development of the following:

* concept
* format
* characters
* series stories arcs
* multiple storylines
* episode beat sheets.

Unleash your creativity, hone your analytical skills and discover inspiring new working practices as you learn not only how to write as part of a team but what it will take to develop your own TV drama projects in the future.

YOU WILL NEED: A laptop, notebook & pen and your imagination…

Note: around an hour’s “homework” will be required between the Saturday and Sunday sessions.

WHO IS THE COURSE AIMED AT?

Any writer who wants to understand how TV drama series are created and run, and to gain practical experience from a professional writer/showrunner in an intimate setting.

As well as learning a lot you will meet other like-minded individuals. Often friendships are formed and collaborations ensue!

"In addition to delivering what was promised in terms of how to approach writing for Existing TV Drama, Anji’s clear expertise in writing provided insights that I can apply immediately to projects across various other formats."  Sean Kelly (Executive Producer/Screenwriter)

"Excellent teacher. Fun. Very clear and real information about how a story is developed from a pitch to production, as well as how it's woven into longer show storylines. We had such fun working on storylines together. It was superb. I would go every Sunday."  Mera Kalam - Aspiring Screenwriter
