SUMMER SCRIPT DEVELOPMENT LAB (ONLINE)
NEW ONLINE COURSE
Saturdays, 11, July 27, August, September 2pm-5pm A lot of writers have an idea for a feature-length script, start typing and hit a wall because it's not properly mapped out and the characters and stakes not properly set up so spending time to design your story ahead of time is the best way to ensure you actually reach FADE OUT, which is why the outlining process and clarity about Act 1 is so crucial for most writers. But how do you write a 4-page outline which effectively lays the tracks for your feature-length script? How do you ensure your characters have a powerful Transformational Arc? How do you ensure the first Act makes us want to read more? How do you approach feedback and don't get overwhelmed by it? This four-afternoon, hands-on course (running over four consecutive Saturdays) will help you test your ideas and effectively design your story before you write the whole script. This intensive summer course is limited to SIX students only so book early to avoid disappointment. COURSE CONTENT On Saturday One (July 27), you will:
On Saturday Two (August 3), you will:
On Saturday Three (August 10), you will:
On Saturday Four (August 17), you will:
REQUIREMENTS Even if it's still embryonic you need to have an idea for a script as you'll be asked to submit a 1-page concept and logline prior to the course. Stephanie will give each writer 15 minutes of personalised feedback on your pages (which she will have reviewed prior to the session). For this script development lab, you are required to read your peers' work so that you can offer constructive feedback as well and learn from the feedback received to the other writers. Each writer can email the tutor during the week so they receive guidance during the duration of the course. |
