​This workshop with veteran comedy writer and producer Paul Bassett Davies covers everything from writing gags and one-liners to sitcom, comedy-drama series, feature films, and writing comedy for digital platforms. It's a unique opportunity to learn and practice the craft of writing comedy.

Whether you’re just starting out, or you're a writer who wants to develop your comedy skills, this workshop will give you a toolkit to make your material funnier in any format or medium that you're writing for, be it film, TV, radio, theatre, stand-up, YouTube or Twitter.

The craft of sitcom and the secrets of success in this distinctive genre.

Plot and structure for ALL longer form comedy, whether sitcom, dramedy or feature film.

How to write a killer opening scene, that grabs your audience, and how to keep them hooked.

PAUL BASSETT DAVIES
is a highly experienced writer, producer and broadcaster. He founded Crystal Theatre, whose pioneering multimedia work was acclaimed in Britain and Europe. He then created a series of one-man shows, two of which were Perrier Award finalists at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, and adapted them for BBC radio. Paul has worked with some of the biggest names in British comedy on TV and radio, as both a writer and producer. He co-wrote the BBC radio sitcom 'Unnatural Acts' and 'At Home with the Hardys' with the late Jeremy Hardy; and his own sitcom, 'Reception' was broadcast by BBC radio. He produced the BBC series 'Do Go On,' which he wrote with Graeme Garden and Griff Rhys Jones. He wrote the screenplay for the children's feature animation film, 'The Magic Roundabout' and has scripted award-winning short films and music videos. He has written four novels, and his short story 'The Spots' is one of 'Six Scary Stories Selected and Introduced by Stephen King.' Paul was also the creative director of the London Comedy Writing Festival.
