COMEDY WRITERS ROOM
What is it?
Over 8 sessions, a small group of selected writers will work collaboratively (and virtually) to create a 30-minute TV comedy series. First the team will devise a cast of characters and break the episode stories together. Then at the end of the course, each writer will go away to pen their own individual episode. Once written, this will be script edited in a 1-to-1 consultancy with the course tutor, Anna Southgate.
Who is it for?
This course is for comedy-writers who want to collaborate in a fun but fast-paced and competitive environment under the supervision of a script consultant.
What is expected?
As well as being keen to share ideas, accept feedback and add laughter to the mix, each writer will be expected to participate in all the sessions and complete the interim writing assignments. Since this is a group exercise, only writers who feel able to commit to this process should apply. (*Sessions will be recorded in the event a writer has to miss a session).
When is it?
The writers room will begin January 2021. When registering your interest, please state your preference for weekdays, weeknights or weekend course times.
How much is it?
The cost of the entire course will be £440.00 (CONCESSIONARY RATE: £400). This includes:
COURSE OUTLINE (a contrivance of ‘C’s)
Session 1 – Character
What are the character’s fears, beliefs, coping mechanisms and blind spots?
Session 2 – Cast
What do the characters think of one another and how do they show (or hide) this?
Session 3 - Crucible

Session - Complication
