This one-day, hands-on workshop reveals how a TV drama series functions, behind the scenes. You'll explore script production processes, with practical exercises along the way. You'll learn tried and tested ways of getting a gig on an existing show - and be one step ahead of the game if you do. You'll also be better-equipped to develop TV drama scripts of your own. We'll look at how the commissioning process works, studying a real-life Story Document - the writer's brief for an episode of a popular TV drama - and exploring how it evolves into a finished, transmitted episode. You'll learn about:
We'll also explore the practical issues you would face in the real world, including those of continuity, logistics, cast and budget. You'll meet like-minded individuals. Students often stay in touch and form invaluable support groups. Your classmates could well become your "tribe". Please bring paper, pens and a laptop. |

ABOUT YOUR TUTOR
ANJI LOMAN FIELD is an established screenwriter, storyliner, script editor and producer. She’s worked in film, television and radio drama in multiple genres across three continents.
A former contract writer for EastEnders, she has also written for BBC’s Holby City and Doctors. She penned 40 episodes of Taste of Life for BBC Media Action in Cambodia and was the creator and show-runner of House of Many Windows, set in Vietnam. She ran a successful indie production company in south-east Asia for six years. She was lead writer on THE DEVIL'S PROMISE, a high-end 6 x 50' episode English/Arabic supernatural thriller, created by Tony Jordan (Red Planet) for MBC and currently has a slate of projects in development for TV & radio. Anji has run courses & workshops for Euroscript for many years. She has also taught at West Herts College, the RCA and the Central Film School. Her past students include Mike Bullen, creator of Cold Feet and writer/producer/director Sean McConville (Deadline; The Quiet Hour). |
