THE 2025 EUROSCRIPT SUMMER SCHOOL
IN CENTRAL LONDON
THE TV WRITERS' ROOM EXPERIENCEA 3-DAY PRACTICAL WORKSHOP IN CENTRAL LONDON
Ever wondered what's it like to work on a team-written show - what really goes on behind the closed doors of a professional TV Writers' Room? This (non-residential) Summer School workshop explores the process through the co-creation and planning of a brand new show. Along the way you'll learn behind-the-scenes secrets of how TV drama series are developed, enabling you to move forward with confidence if you secure a writing gig on an existing show and equipping you with the skills to develop your own TV drama projects. You'll be joining a group of aspiring creative screenwriters in a simulated writers' room, run by experienced professional writer/show-runner Anji Loman Field. Over three, hands-on days you’ll be contributing to the creation and development of the following: * concept * format * characters * story arcs * multi-stranded storylines * beat sheets * opening scenes On the final afternoon, participants of all three Summer School courses will join together to share their work and get feedback. Unleash your creativity, hone your analytical skills and discover inspiring new working practices as you learn not only how to work as part of a writing team but what it will take to develop your own TV drama projects in the future. Note: around an hour’s “homework” will be required before the start of the course and in-between sessions. WHO IS THE WORKSHOP AIMED AT? Any writer who wants to understand how TV drama series are created and run, and to gain practical experience "in the room". You'll learn about the questions to ask, the decisions that need to be made and how to troubleshoot your own, and other people's, ideas. As well as learning a lot you will meet other like-minded individuals. Often friendships are formed and collaborations ensue. |
