LET'S WRITE A VERTICAL DRAMA!
|
This is a fun, fast, hands-on, creative workshop during which we'll be brainstorming, writing, acting, filming and editing all day to create our own brilliant vertical drama episodes.
ABOUT VERTICAL DRAMA Vertical drama is a storytelling format watched by millions on their mobile. Episodes run 1–3 minutes, the frame is portrait phone-sized, the story moves very, very fast. Viewers watch in stolen moments: during a work break, on the bus, in the lunch queue, last thing at night in bed. Every episode must end with a hook so hooky, the viewer can’t help but tap to the next one. Across the whole series, without noticing, they've watched a feature-length drama. ABOUT THE WORKSHOP In small groups using creative triggers, working in clear genres, we'll brainstorm stand-out characters and hooky plots. We'll watch a few episodes of the biggest multi-million-viewer dramas and find out about platforms like ReelShort and DramaBox. We'll learn about the viewers, particularly Black American women who have been underserved by mainstream drama. Vertical drama is a storytelling language with its own grammar and rules. Expect lots of ideas, laughter and a huge amount of creative output. |
