HOW TO WRITE A WINNING TREATMENT
(IN TIME FOR THE EUROSCRIPT STORY COMPETITION)

Picture
If you're thinking of entering our Story Competition (deadline midnight 31st March 2026) come along to this workshop to give yourself the best possible chance of getting through to the next level.

Learn what to do and what to avoid.

A great treatment:

  • tells your story clearly - beginning, middle and end;
  • reflects the genre - so if you're writing comedy your reader is chuckling, if you're writing a musical, toes are tapping;
  • and is compelling to read.

In this immersive workshop you will:

  • learn valuable skills to summarise your story in a gripping logline;
  • work on introducing your characters vividly;
  • clarify goals, arcs and themes.

Learn the secrets of powerful treatment writing:

  • with tips from Charles Dickens, introduce your characters vividly;
  • harness the power of similes and metaphors;
  • use the five senses of smell, touch, feel, hearing and sight to invigorate your text;
  • use active, dynamic verbs to give your prose punch.

Leave with the tools to take your treatment to the next level.

Your tutor, Fenella Greenfield, is an indie filmmaker.  She’s written/directed two features - 2.0 Lucy (2022) and 10 Swords & The Moon (2024).  She produced the thriller feature Newearth, directed by Ros Gihan Williams, currently in post-production, release date 2026.

She’s a freelance trailer maker and editor.  Her company also produces corporate videos for a wide range of international clients.
