the 31st Euroscript Screen Story competition 2025)

Congratulations.  You’ve finished your script.
 
WHAT’S NEXT?
 
Now, you’ve got to entice producers to read it. 

A great treatment:
​

• tells your story clearly - beginning, middle and end;
• reflects the genre - so if you're writing comedy your reader is chuckling, if you're writing a musical, toes are tapping;
• and is compelling to read.

In this immersive workshop you will:

• learn valuable skills to summarise your story in a gripping logline;
• work on introducing your characters vividly;
• clarify goals, arcs and themes.

We also look at examples of compelling pitch decks;  you'll be shown how to leverage AI where appropriate; and we'll end with a quick round-trip on how, and where, to access markets and producers.

Learn the secrets of powerful writing:

• with tips from Charles Dickens, introduce your characters vividly;
• harness the power of similes and metaphors;
• use the five senses of smell, touch, feel, hearing and sight to invigorate your text;
• use active, dynamic verbs to give your prose punch.

Your tutor, Fenella Greenfield, is an indie filmmaker.  She’s produced/directed two features - 2.0 Lucy (2022) and 10 Swords & The Moon (2024).
 
She’s a freelance trailer maker and editor.  Her company also produces corporate videos for a wide range of international clients.
 
She’s a founder member of Euroscript, runs its annual Screen Story Competition, and develops writers as a script editor.

NOW, ENTER OUR COMPETITION
 
This workshop has been tailored to help you enter the very best submission to the 31st Euroscript Screenwriting Competition 2025.
 
Write a great prose summary of your feature-length screenplay in no more than 750 words and submit it by the deadline, midnight, 31st March 2025.  

We also ask for ten pages of sample script from the screenplay story you are submitting.
 
Our competition winner receives three Full Reports, usually running 10-15 pages on three drafts of their script.
 
Other prizes include Full Reports and Barometer Reports on your screenplays.
 
EVERYONE who enters receives feedback in the form of a 2-page Euroscript Treatment Barometer Report on their 750-word story summary.
