HOW TO SUCCeed as a comedy writer
A ONE-DAY WORKSHOP WITH COMEDY WRITER AND PRODUCER
PAUL BASSETT DAVIES There are two key steps to success as a comedy writer: 1. WRITE SOMETHING FUNNY. 2. SELL IT. This workshop is based around a series of practical exercises and takes a decidedly conventional approach by starting with the first step. Call it old-fashioned, but it seems to work; trying to sell something you haven't got doesn't usually end well. So, whether you're writing for page, stage, television, film, audio or online, you need to make sure your work is as good as it can possibly be before you take it to market. The first part of this workshop focuses on helping you to make your material funny, in ANY format or genre - from sketches to feature films, via sitcom, comedy-drama, podcast, and funny online clip. The second part explores what it takes to forge a successful career in comedy writing, from the basics right through to getting insider tips on how to break into the industry. By the end of the day, you’ll have a clear idea of how to go forward, armed with the secrets of successful comedy writing and information to help you move your career forward. OVERVIEW: This workshop offers a rare opportunity to get expert guidance & support from a highly experienced professional comedy writer, performer and producer. In Paul's words: "I might not be able to make you funny, but I can make you a better comedy writer; and I can tell you everything I've learned about the best way to present and pitch your work to the industry." |
