YOUR FIRST TEN PAGES: Getting past the reader
Tired of your script always ending up on the slush pile?
Want to make a resolution to learn how to write an arresting and compelling opening to your screenplay that has page-turning quality?
You’ll find out at this inspiring workshop. Using a range of screenwriting techniques, we’ll build on your intuition, ability and experience to craft and hone the first ten pages to your script.
Through a series of practical and fun-filled exercises, you’ll learn the nine key secrets to structuring an exciting, page-turning opening ten pages – as well as identify the five common mistakes writers often fall into.
And, more importantly, you’ll learn how to build your story from the first word on the first page through to the last word on page 10, vital to getting your reader onside and making them want to read your screenplay.
No matter where you are, a beginner or advanced, first idea or completed screenplay, you will gain a powerful new understanding of how the opening pages of a successful screenplay works, how to find your “writer’s voice” and how to write the very best.
The day includes:
· “The Hook”
