 Euroscript Screen Writing Competition

HOMOPHOBIA IN THE BOXING RING AND DRAMA AT THE KABUL GRAND TAKE TOP SPOTS IN EUROSCRIPT'S SCREEN STORY COMPETITION

London, 23 June 2011: The 18th Euroscript Screen Story Competition has been won by a gritty London feature written by Chris Brown in which a boy competes in the macho world of boxing and fights to come to terms with his homosexuality.

In second place is Ella Saltmarshe who has taken the Kabul Grand Hotel as the setting for her social drama. Three runners up receive Euroscript Bullet Point Reports on any script of their choice. They are: Douglas McDowall with 'The Road Home', Rhona Pool with 'Wilderness' and Kefi Chadwick with 'Tiger Heist'.

TIME-TRAVEL ROMCOM, STAG WEEKEND HORROR AND INUIT EPIC TOP 2010'S EUROSCRIPT SCREEN STORY COMPETITION WINNERS.

The 17th Euroscript Screen Story Competition was won by Sonya Desai with her romantic comedy 'Mean Time' in which a girl has to fight her future self to win back the man she loves.  In joint second place were Jason Parry with 'Stag' about a stag weekend that goes terrifyingly wrong and Géraldine Vessière's 'Two Old Women', an epic Alaskan tale based on Inuit myth. Two further writers came joint fourth -  Margaret Folarin with 'White Wedding' and Hari Patience with 'The Fixer'.

 A Spanish-British movie which examines the fraught relationships between Luis Bunuel, Salvador Dali and Pablo Picasso, is now on release, having premiered at Raindance in 2008.  Screenwriter  Philippa Goslett developed the script with Euroscript, having won Euroscript's 2000 Screen Story competition.  It's directed by the acclaimed director Paul Morrison who also shot the superb Wondrous Oblivion; and stars, among others, Robert Pattinson, who caused such a stir in Twilight.
