On selected Mondays, from 6.15pm - 9.30pm, our tutors are on hand to help you with your writing.
Develop your script from idea or premise to draft treatment, draft script and final draft. Whatever stage you are at, you can sign up for our development workshops to move you on towards a polished, professional screenplay. You can start with an initial idea, with work in progress or with a draft that just needs a further tweak.
You can bring a feature-film idea, a sit-com, a drama for tv or a short film script. Working no more than five to six writers to one tutor, we’ll work closely with you to help you to solve any problems and advance your project.
On your first workshop, we’ll talk to you in detail about your project, and together we’ll develop a development plan for the next sessions, decide how frequently you want to come, and give you attainable goals for each step and deadlines to help focus your work.
Over the following workshops, you’ll be asked to provide specific material for discussion as your treatment or script progresses, and we’ll use this to give you feedback on how best to develop further. You will be asked to read the material developed by your fellow writers and be expected to give constructive feedback, which helps you develop your critical judgement and key collaborative skills with the monitoring and commentary of your tutors.
The outcomes depend very much on the work you put in. With focused work you should be able to develop your project to a professional level of treatment, first draft or redraft in six of the sessions, although you can take more if you wish, or take longer between sessions.
We will evaluate your progress and give guidance as to the next stage of the process. When your script is complete you will then be able to choose whether to continue developing the project within the group, or to take time aside to develop it on your own, or with a personal Euroscript mentor. Sometimes, if you don't have an agent, Euroscript will help you market your script.
Personal consultation and mentoring from the Euroscript tutors and other consultants is always available during or after the course.
We give concessionary rates to paid-up members of Shooting People, DGGB, WGGB and WIFTV.
All training takes place at the Drill Hall. Click here for map.
Book early by clicking the date you want to come. Workshops become full very quickly. If you have material to be discussed, whether a rough idea, an outline or longer script extracts, you will need to send it at least four days in advance to the other four writers and tutor in your group.
Some organisations offer bursaries to writers wishing to attend courses. Click here to find out more.
