Tuesday 29th June
Horror and Noir
6.15pm to 9.30pm
Tutor: Charles Harris
Writing a high intensity serious story can be difficult for a writer who is not familiar with the detailed demands of the genres involved.
Approached in the right way, each genre can yield rich and exciting stories. We will discuss the similarities and differences between Horror, Noir with a nod towards Romantic tragedy, and how the writer must satisfy very different audience expectations.
We see what elements each demands and how they can combine with each other and with other genres to make successful cross-genre film and TV dramas of a wide variety of kinds.
We will also help you tease out which genre or genres are at work in your own projects, and give advice and feedback on how to strengthen their effect and make them work to the advantage of the script.
